How much does it cost to play in your league?
The registration cost is $210 with a discount of $10 for Stafford Residents and Stafford MSD employees. If there are any questions or concerns please feel free to email us.
What all does the registration cost include?
The cost includes: You will receive a reversible uniform, opening ceremony (jamboree), end of the year banquet with food and prizes, professional referees, access to a free skills and drill clinic which will take place on Wednesday each night during the season, a playoff tournament with a championship game. All players will receive an award (a trophy, medal or ring).
Does my child need experience to play?
No. We are a developmental league and we focus on teaching the fundamentals of basketball.
Does my child have to try out to make the team?
No. However, we do require each participant to complete a basketball skills evaluation to see their skill level so when teams are selected, it will help balance out the teams.
Do the girls and boys play together?
Yes and No. Our division 1, first and second graders are coed. We have a division 2 boys and division 3 boys. The girls division consist of only girls grades third through seventh grade.
What size goal and ball do they use?
Division 1 athletes are 1st and 2nd grade players. They are the only coed group that we have. They practice and play on an 8' goal using a 27" basketball.
Girls Division athletes are 3rd through 6th grade players. They are the only all girls division that we have. They practice and play on an 10' goal using a 28" basketball.
Division 2 athletes are 3rd and 4th grade players. They practice and play on an 10' goal using a 28" basketball.
Division 3 athletes are 5th and 6th grade players. They practice and play on an 10' goal using a 29" basketball.
How are teams selected?
After evaluations, we have a draft day. The coaches will come together and draft players for their teams.
Can my child play for the same coach as last year?
No one can promise that. Each year we start with a new pool of players and each coach takes a turn to choose a player in the draft. This is designed to keep the teams balanced.
Can my child be placed on the same team as his friend?
We cannot promise that for the same reasons. We are trying to keep the teams as balanced as possible.
When will I know what team my child is on?
The coach will contact you after the draft and let you know what team your child is on and what night he will have his/her practice on,
How often do the teams practice?
There is one practice night a week from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
Where are the practices held?
All practices are held at 1625 Staffordshire. The Stafford Gymnasiums.
How many games does each team play?
Each team has 8 to 12 regular season games depending on how many teams are formed in the league,
Does your league have playoff games?
Yes. At the end of the regular season, we do have playoff games.
When are the games played?
Typically, all games are played on Saturday between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm but you may have one or two games during the week. If your game is during the week then your team will not have practice that week.
How long do the games last?
Most games last about an hour in total time.
Do we have to travel?
No. All games are held at the Stafford gymnasiums.
How long is the season?
The season opener is the first Saturday after the school's Christmas break and the last regular season game is the last week of February. The playoffs start the first week of March and is over the Saturday before spring break.
Is there a charge to attend the games?
No. Everyone is welcome.
What is your refund policy?
If a refund is requested prior to close of registration, you may receive a refund less the $50.00 administration fee. Please email your request to [email protected], leave your name, the players name and contact information for verification purposes. You will receive your refund within 14 business days. There will be no refunds after the teams are formed.
